Victorian Agate Brooch with Vulcanite Nesting Birds - HUGE

Here is a VERY unique ORIGINAL mid-Victorian era Scottish agate brooch with attached Vulcanite two nesting doves feeding on a bunch of grapes. Truly a "WOW" piece - I've never seen another like it. Brooch is HUGE measures just under 3" in width by 1 3/4" in height, with period correct tube hinge and "c" clasp closure. Has some weight to it. Lovely agate does have some red inclusions on the top portion of the brooch. Not a flaw, and totally natural and part of the agate itself (see photo #5). In mineralogy, an inclusion is any material that is trapped inside a mineral during its formation. In gemology, an inclusion is a characteristic enclosed within a gemstone, or reaching its surface from the interior. According to Hutton's law of inclusions, fragments included in a host rock are older than the host rock itself. Please ask any questions prior to purchase.
